Bread Loafs

While there are plenty of sights in London – and it is quite a challenge to make photographs of them in a way that hasn’t been seen thousands of times –, the city (like probably every place in the world) has lots of small scenes on offer. Personally, I am not so much into street photography – in fact one of the few occasions where I did take photos in street photography style, was on my trip to London back in 1989. Market scenes, on the other hand, do not always need people in them.

Close to the southern bank of the river Thames and quite central – just opposite the City of London –, the Borough Market is tucked underneath the elevated railway lines that run from London Bridge towards Cannon Street and Charing Cross. Being one of the oldest food markets in London, it still serves this purpose today. While there are quite a few tourists around (like probably everywhere in London), the main business of the stalls is diverse speciality food, like the breads in this image, sausages, licorice, or cheese.

This photograph was made with a Canon EOS 6D and an EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM lens at 192mm. The exposure was 1/160 second at f/5.6 and ISO 2000. The photograph was edited in Adobe Lightroom. You can find this photo along with others from various trips to London in my album London.
