Dresden: Semperoper
Dresden: Semperoper

In the city of Dresden there are plenty of beautiful places, the Altstadt being the most famous. Like so many buildings in the city, the Semperoper had been destroyed in World War II; in 1985 the reconstruction was completed, and the following year I saw the building for the first time.

On the day this photograph was shot, I spent my whole day in the historic centre of Dresden, first in the Altstadt on the South bank of the river Elbe, then in the Neustadt across the river. In the evening, I returned to Theatre Square for some blue hour photographs of the buildings around that square.

This photograph was stitched from five single shots, each made with a Canon EOS 6D and an EF 35 mm f/2 IS USM lens. The exposure for each shot was 2 seconds at f/8 and ISO 200. The photograph was stitched and edited in Adobe Lightroom and cropped to a 2:1 ratio. This photo is also in my portfolio and is available as a limited edition print. You can find this photo along with others from my trip in my album Dresden.
